The temperatures in summer can rise from 28° to 35° in several areas. Bring light clothes: shorts, lightweight short-sleeved T-shirts and sandals. It’s a bit chilly in the evenings and nights, plan long-sleeved t-shirts and vests.
In winter, think about bringing a good raincoat with hood, socks, a pair of waterproof shoe and a good sweater. It is advisable to always have a windbreaker in your bag and a sweater during a beautiful day because the wind can rise and a shower can trigger. On a second thought, bring warm clothes and of rain if you go to South Island, especially on the west coast and the Fiorland.
Hiking and Walking: good shoes and waterproof. The New Zealand bush is fresh and moist, so take away gaiters, warm underwear and good solid shorts.
And of course, to protect yourself from the sun, do not forget a cap or hat, sunglasses. You will be surprised by the sun which is very strong so the sunscreen is a must.
Sports and activities
New Zealand offers a plethora of activity for thirsty thrill seekers. All imaginable activities are possible.
New Zealand is famous for its adventure sports and extreme sports: bungee jumping, parachute, rafting, jetboating, climbing on glacier, quad biking, and caving, suspended bridges among others.
Moreover, we think mainly of the All Blacks. Rugby is almost a religion. Players are the biggest stars in the country. They won only once the World Cup and they are still the strongest team in the world. Their famous “haka”, war dance is of a power and they execute it before the start of the matches to terrorize their opponents.
